Mike Tyson Files Suit Against Boxing Hall Of Fame
According to a lawsuit filed in federal court on Tuesday, the Boxing Hall Fame in Nevada is being sued by Mike Tyson. The suit says that the Hall Fame “has violated Mr. Tyson’s right publicity and right to use and exploit the Mike Tyson and Iron Mike trademarks by using and exploiting Mr. Tyson’s name, likeness, and marks on apparel and other items it may fer for sale.”
The suit cites numerous T-shirts with Tyson’s image on them, and some that also feature “Iron Mike.” Even more troubling, the suit alsoalleges that the company “has also entered into agreements with other online vendors, including American Classics Apparel, Macy’s, and Urban Outfitters, to sell products that are purportedly ‘ficially licensed’ and that bear Mr. Tyson’s name, likeness, and marks.”
In addition to the clothing, the Hall is also accused negotiating to sell other Tyson-themed products including energy bars, energy drinks, health-related products and gaming products.The suit insists that non these products being produced and sold by the Boxing Hall Fame have been approved by Mike Tyson himself.
The amount the suit has not been disclosed.
