Barbra Streisand Pens HuffPo Op-Ed Demanding Pres. Trump Acknowledge Climate Change
Barbra Streisand is next in line to call out President Donald Trump and his administration for denying climate change. The flutter vocalized concerns over climate change is most recently brought on by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and the unthinkable destruction endured by Texans, Floridians and citizens various islands in the Atlantic.
On Tuesday (Sept. 12), Streisand wrote down her concerns for The Huffington Post. Concisely, Streisand explains that Harvey and Irma “really hit home” because she had begun her The Music… The Mem'ries… The Magic! Tour in Houston (her first ever show in the city), and ended the North American run with three dates in Florida last fall.
More to the point, though, Streisand stated that “Donald Trump can visit all the disaster areas he wants — but what can you do when he and his administration don't acknowledge the science behind climate change, even removing information from the Environment Protection Agency website.”
She also wants you to “write your representatives” and “call the White House” to “tell them to face the facts — ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising — climate change is real!”
The Hand in Hand Telethon also aired on Tuesday night (Sept. 12), which featured Streisand and countless other stars — many which also made their feelings toward climate change known — to raise $44 million in hurricane relief.
Rapper Vic Mensa told Billboard backstage in New York that climate change is “100 percent a reality,” while Stevie Wonder led the televised event by saying that “as we begin to love and value our planet… anyone who believes that there is no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent. Lord, please save us all.”
