Hillary Clinton Mentions Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and Other Artists in New Book
Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has a new book titled What Happened. The tell-all-style book was released on Tuesday (Sept. 12). In it, Clinton retraces nuances from her presidential campaign — yes, even the emails — and states in the Author's Note that while “this isn't a cohesive account the 2016 race,” it is “my story what happened. It's the story what I saw, felt, and thought during two the most intense years I've ever experienced.”
Clinton goes into detail about former FBI director James Comey, the emails, sexism and more serious subject matter, but she also uses music as a tool to tell her story.
Before each chapter is a quote. Before the second chapter, “Showing Up,” reads the following: “'That which does not kill us makes us stronger.' — Friedrich Nietzsche (and Kelly Clarkson)”
While that is an abstract reference to Clarkson, Clinton does provide specific artist anecdotes like this one from page 185:
