'The Voice' Recap: Night Five of Blind Auditions Ends with a Four-Chair Turn

10Oct - by EvelynSutherland21

The Blind Auditions continued on The Voice tonight, with coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus battling each other for the best artists to round out their teams.

To kick things f, Chloe Kohanski sang Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.” It was a strong start to the evening, as Cyrus, Shelton and Hudson all turned for her. Kohanski, who is from Nashville and is a huge Cyrus fan, fittingly joined Team Miley.

Next, at just 13-years-old, Oli Kay came to the show ready to impress. But unfortunately, she wasn’t quite ready for the competition, and she didn’t turn any chairs.

Next up was Dennis Drummond, who plays guitar with season 10 runner-up Adam Wakefield, who also made a brief appearance. Drummond sang “She Talks To Angels” by The Black Crowes, and while it was a fun performance, he didn’t have the strongest voice. Levine turned, followed by Shelton. Drummond joined Team Blake, opting not to follow in Wakefield’s footsteps on Team Adam.

Season 12’s Snapchat winner Ignatious Carmouche followed with a stunning performance “Latch” by Disclosure, showcasing his falsetto. Hudson turned, followed surprisingly by Shelton even though Carmouche isn’t really in his lane. The artist joined Team Jennifer.

Rebecca Brunner auditioned with “Believer” by Imagine Dragons next. She packed a lot power behind her vocals, but she didn’t catch anyone’s attention until the last second, when Shelton finally turned. She joined Team Blake by default.

Brandon Brown followed with a soulful performance “Georgia On My Mind.” Levine turned early, and Hudson and Shelton eventually followed. It was the first juicy coach face-f the night. Shelton even pulled out his pointing move. But Levine emerged victorious.

Nathan Graham served up an original take on “Nobody To Blame” by Chris Stapleton. But his pitch problems prevented any the coaches from hitting their buttons.

Whitney Fenimore followed with her take on a Drake hit. She showcased her impressive range and beautiful tone on the folk interpretation “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” Levine ad Cyrus both turned, and Fenimore surprised by joining Team Adam.

Next, Ilianna Viramontes sang “New Soul” by Yael Naim. It was a solid pop performance, and Viramontes had a lot personality. Cyrus and Shelton both hit their buttons for her. She joined Team Miley.

In auditions that were not fully aired, Katrina Rose joined Team Miley, and Ryan Scripps and Natalie Stovall joined Team Blake.

Meagan McNeal was up next, singing The Weeknd’s “I Can’t Feel My Face.” It was a creative performance, and McNeal hit a huge note. Even though McNeal deserved more, she only got one turn from Hudson. She joined Team Jennifer by default.

For the last audition the evening, Jon Mero sang “Versace On The Floor” by Bruno Mars. The evening ended on a high note, with Mero effortlessly securing a four-chair turn. Levine was having a good night: He landed Mero for Team Adam.

The Voice continues with more auditions tomorrow night on NBC.
