YouTube's biggest video played to over half the world
Forget ‘See You Again’, definitely forget ‘Gangnam Style’ – there’s a new ludicrously popular YouTube video in town, and it’s none other than ficial song the summer ‘Despacito’.
But don’t think that this is a victory for Justin Bieber, because it’s actually the video for the original track by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee that’s racked up over 4 billion views.
Yes, that’s 4. Billion. Views.
If you want to add to that mind-boggling total (and why wouldn’t you when the song’s a total banger?), then you can watch it below. Try not to pine for summer too much.

Although it kind scares us that the equivalent over half the earth’s population has watched one four-minute video, we can see why it’s been such a smash.
And it’s not just a hit with YouTubers, ‘Despacito’ – the one with Justin Bieber, this time – was also crowned the ficial song the summer after hitting 786 million streams on Spotify.
Still, in spite its huge popularity, ‘Despacito’ has been hit with a couple controversies, even including a country-wide ban.
Malaysia killed their country’s summer vibes by banning the song outright, claiming that the song was too “inappropriate” to be aired by national media outlets.
But if you didn’t realise just how steamy the lyrics to ‘Despacito’ are, then don’t worry – Justin Bieber doesn’t have a clue either.
